REBATES · AS AT OCTOBER 2026

Rebates,
explained.

Federal rebates can take a significant amount off the cost of solar and batteries. We claim them for you and take the discount straight off your quote.

At a glance

Both federal schemes work through small-scale technology certificates (STCs). Eligible solar and battery systems earn STCs, and we claim them on your behalf.

You don’t apply for anything yourself. The discount comes off the price, and your quote shows the price after it. Both schemes are open to homes and businesses.

Battery discount

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

The federal government discounts the upfront cost of eligible batteries by around 30%. We claim the STCs and the discount comes off your quote, so there is no separate application to make.

  • The battery must be installed with solar, either new or existing. Batteries that only charge from the grid are not eligible.
  • The battery and inverter must be on the Clean Energy Council approved list, and installed by an SAA-accredited installer. Our installs are led by Kher Ming Tan, who is SAA accredited.
  • The full discount applies to the first 14 kWh of usable capacity, with a reduced rate above that.
  • The discount steps down every six months until the program ends in 2030.
  • One battery system per property. Homes, businesses and community organisations can all claim it.

Solar rebate

Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme

New solar systems earn small-scale technology certificates (STCs). We claim them for you and they come off the price of your system. The discount gets smaller every January and the scheme ends in 2030.

  • The discount depends on system size and where you live, and is shown on your quote.
  • The scheme covers solar systems under 100 kW, so it applies to homes and many business systems.
  • Synergy pays for solar you export under its Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme, with higher rates for exports in the late afternoon and evening.
  • Pairing solar with a battery lets you use more of your own power instead of exporting it.
